In this conversation, some members of an office clique1 are standing2 around the water cooler. They are mostly gossiping about employees who don’t belong to the clique.

Julie: Did you see Nadia this morning? I really don’t like

the dress she’s wearing.

Sally: I know what you mean. Her clothes are never in fashion, anyway.

Michael: Hey, I heard through the grapevine that Todd will

probably get the new job in Marketing3.

Sally: I’m not surprised. He’s such a brown-noser.

Bill: Yeah, the only reason he’s moved up so fast is by sucking up all the time.

Mira: I heard that there was a little back-biting involved, too!

Michael: Did you hear the latest rumor4? Mario and Vanessa have the hots for each other. Someone saw them together a few days ago.

Mira: No kidding! And he’s still going out with Florence.

Julie: Shh ... keep it down. Chuck’s coming. He can be a real rumor-mongerer.

. . . . .

Chuck: Hi, everyone. What’s up?

Sally:

Sally:

Mira:

Chuck:

In recent years, the air-conditioner has become one of the many indispensable electrical appliances for thousands upon thousands of families, especially those in the south, where the intense heat overwhelms the earth throughout the summer. The advantages of the air-conditioner are self-evident. Armed with the ability to refrigerate, the air-conditioner makes you feel refreshing and comfortable no matter how hot it is outside. Thus it guarantees the efficiency of your work and the quality of your rest. Without it there would be no knowing what would happen to you in the dog days. Moreover, it can also create a proper condition in summer for the operation of computers -- the best friends of yours in the information age. Too high a temperature would make computers work improperly, causing much inconvenience for your daily life and work.

With all the advantages the air- conditioner offers, its disadvantages are also obvious. To begin with, the installment of the air-conditioner always involves the hole making in the wall, which undoubtedly makes the wall less pleasing to the eye than if not. Besides, the air-conditioned environment may make you more and more dependent on the air-conditioner, thus physically weakening your ability to cope with hot weather. Most important, the air - conditioned environment provides poor ventilation, and sometimes may even give rise to a strange kind of smell, which makes you feel dizzy and sick. Consequently, you will be in no mood for enjoying the cool air produced by the air- conditioner.

All things considered, I think its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. Actually, nothing in the world is perfect. It is unwise to make light of the favorable aspects of a thing on account of its unfavorable aspects. The same is true of the attitude you take towards the air-conditioner.

When I was young at high school,I couldn't stop dreaming about my college life again and again.Suffering too much pressure form college entrance test,I always admired college students for their relaxed life in college.

In my personal opinion, living in university is  an enjoyment.Every day we can open our eyes naturally, and put on clothes in our own style without warring about teachers' rigid control.Communicating with great master is no longer beyond our reach. Each course we take can be a feast for our mind and soul. After class,we will lead a rich and colorful life filled with various leisure activities such as .Library in  university is another factor I pursue.I think it's an access to enhancing our comprehensive abilities to read even just scan all  sorts of

writings. What's more,we will have so much disposable time that we can do whatever worthy. And our contact group will be extended signally via organizing and participating many activities. All in all,I once imagined that I can live a life that is substantial but meaningful.

However,I just have to admit that what I just describe is really dream. Now living in SD I can't figure out what I pursue and make a feasible career planning. So many young cynics in this schoolyard  argue for something meaningless.Worse still, the academic atmosphere has already done with nothing left.I haven't found a busy but rich thing to try my best.As a matter of fact,I even can't choose a lifestyle I prefer. What a tragedy it is between dream and reality.

Cube,Rectangular...。

J: Thank you.I want to talk with you about the mode of payment for the handicrafts which are under negotiation.

W: For the development of our future business,we can accept this payment this time. Would you please tell us more specifically your idea about the terms of payment? For example, what time do you start to pay?

J: We will begin to pay three months later. We will quote a value of $50,000 usance draft (s) as the first installment. This time draft is due in October. And the remaining amount will be paid off within in 2 years by three times.

W: OK. We can accept the payment, but you have to pay interest.

J: This is as it should be. I'm glad we can negotiate successfully.

Joan: To be honest Jeff, so was I.

Jeff: It goes to show that just because someone is rich and successful, doesn't make them perfect.
