I was the only sixteen-year-old in my first university classroom. It was one of those defining moments where I was painfully aware of how different I was from the people around me. I had not yet graduated from high school, and yet there I sat in a class on personal and social adjustment, feeling an odd combination of excitement and anxiety. My high school classes were rather cold and clinical in their teachings, maintaining a firm adherence to stating and memorizing facts with little or no attempt to have students engage with the material. My interest in culture and my natural response to analyze, question, and participate was stifled behind state standards. In contrast, my fascination with culture was able to proliferate in postsecondary schooling as a result of a liberal arts education and my own proposed course of study.

My early education in anthropology started with a historical glance at cultural theory through works of influential pioneers like Malinowski and Mead. I became fascinated by the theoretical framework involved in cultural exploration, especially how cultural beliefs and values play a role in the every day lives of individuals. During a class on ritual and spectacle, I drove headlong and enthusiastically into ideas of ritual importance and its impact on societies. The subjects ranged from the roles of wedding rites to funerals, and I analyzed certain ceremonies and assessed the meaning of their various components. Another class taught by the same professor took ritual metaphor and applied it to narrative. The course addressed European stories from an analytical perspective, and I examined well-known folktales to yield their ritual symbology. I found myself impassioned by the idea of exploring beyond the superficial guise of narrative and seeing it as a meaningful way of expressing a society's basic beliefs and ideologies. Immersing myself in the works of other inspiring anthropologists, I examined texts on narrative form and nature, ritual metaphor and the importance of storytelling in culture.

My interest in storytelling resulted in the subject of my undergraduate thesis. I decided to focus on American narration, specifically concentrating on expressions of masculinity in men's magazines. It discussed dialogue in magazines as well as in teen male group settings, focusing on the conceptualization and presentation of gender in both circumstances. My overarching approach examined how masculine identity in the media has evolved over the last century. I further presented how manly behavior was glamorized in the text from three contemporary men's magazines, and juxtaposed it with an ethnographic work about how young men communicate and assert their gender roles.

My thesis topic is slightly removed from what I would like to study in graduate school, but the process familiarized me with the prerequisites required for social research. These included a delay in progress by routine realities, such as gaining IRB approval to interview and observe minors, as well as being forced to dig through the vast sea of material on women's magazines just to yield the limited data done on men's publications. The college that I attended also emphasized the importance of organizing one's own curriculum during junior and senior years. It was an unrestricted program in which the student consults with sponsors and plans his or her own course of study. This program approached the undergraduate thesis with the same level of intensity and professionalism as a graduate dissertation.

For my thesis, I assessed my topic and its requirements, efficiently planning my eventual course of study. I organized tutorials with my sponsors and established necessary reading lists that would contribute to my progress. Tutorial discussions allowed me to gain a broad scope of the research process and solidify my thesis into working theoretical, cultural and ethnographic papers. I earned permission to conduct fieldwork at a local Boys and Girl's club, and was approved to interview and observe the interaction between teenage males at the club. I was able to further gain a taste of the graduate dissertation process when I successfully defended my undergraduate thesis during an oral presentation to my sponsors and an outside examiner.

The liberal arts education I received has given me the means to approach social anthropology in a perceptive manner and to consider the various intricacies that influence and shape certain aspects of culture. 一、体检时间

体检安排在拿到学校发放了电子录取之后，因为这个时候基本上可以确定自己的录取状态，拥有了准留学生的身份，然后大家再去指定的医院接受体检。

My background is especially strong in physical anthropology, my primary field of interest. In the spring of , I will be presenting my results at a poster presentation at the University of Rhode Island, and am planning to eventually publish my findings. My research proposal gained approval from the Institutional Care and Use Committee at URI and at the Roger William Park and Zoo where the three species of non-human primates (Gibbons, Sakis, and Lemurs) included in my study are kept. In addition to writing a successful research proposal, I also wrote and received a small funds grant from the University of Rhode Island in order to conduct my research. By being intimately involved in every aspect of research, from proposal and grant writing to data collection and analysis, I have learned what it takes to be a researcher, but more than that, I have learned how fulfilling and interesting research can be.

In the spring of 2005, I will be presenting my results at a poster presentation at the University of Rhode Island, and am planning to eventually publish my findings. Not only has this experience shown me that I am capable of excelling in conducting research, but it has also allowed me to develop a love for the hands on learning that is so crucial to successful research. In my final semester at URI, I will be participating in an ongoing research project concerning brain function and attention span under the direction of Dr. Dominic Valentino, a professor in the psychology department at URI. This project will undoubtedly further advance my academic skills and reinforce my passion for research.

Physical anthropology is more than just my primary area of education; it has also become my hobby and lifestyle. The questions posed and answered via the study of physical anthropology have fascinated me for a very long time and have stimulated me to ask and seek to answer further questions. 申请日本留学的途径

1、读日本语言学校→日本大学

日本语言学校主要是针对没有日语水平和有一点日语基础的同学去日本留学开设的学校，语言学校除了教授日语外还会辅导学生如何选择大学和专业，甚至还会安排入学考试前的培训面试等等(包括日文写作及面试辅导等)。这样你可以考入一所优秀的日本大学，而不是在国内取得那些三四流类大学的文凭。大家不用担心考不上大学，日本大学很多，在国内都能去读，何况到了日本。如果你想日本留学有所作为的话，去语言学校，将来考一所国公立大学，找工作也相对容易。除了国公立大学，有些私立大学也很不错，但学费昂贵。

2、读日语专门学校→日本大学(大二、大三编入)

如果不想浪费时间，想去日本直接读大学，而又不想在国内读日语，那就去读专门学校的日语学科，这个专业只要求日语4级(JLPT-4)就可以去日本，如果期间还想读大学可以插入日本大学二年级或三年级(需要折算以前的学分决定进入几年级)。编入的专业一般都是同专业，主要考察日语和专业课，如果跨专业编入，通过几率较小。这也是给一些想节省时间的同学提出的小建议。

3、直升日本大学

日本大学要求日语二级(N2)就可以申请了。想必学过日语的朋友都知道你考出二级的水平，根本没有办法跟上日本大学的课程。一方面要学日语，一方面要打工挣钱，一方面还有大学的课程，你会手忙脚乱的。建议是考出一级(N1)再去申请。要不就直接去语言学校锻炼半年到一年，这样经费也有了，日语也达到要求了。

4、读日本大学预科→日本大学

事实上，日本预科班也会像语言学校一样安排备考“日本留学试验”的辅导课程，但在日本，设立预科的院校较少，通常只有私立大学才设立，不过有些预科班有一定的局限性，比如会限制学生的升学选择，规定学生日后升学只允许入读该预科班所在的大学。而且预科班除了日语课程以外还安排其他基础课程，全天制上课，学生打工时间不多。生活方面没有更好的保障。预科班在每年的4月和10月开学，语言学校的学制更加灵活，在每年的1、4、7、10月开学。语言学校和大学预科的学费相差不大，但就签证成功率而言，语言学校的签证成功率比预科学校高。

日本留学修士申请途径

一般日本留学申请途径分为语言学校过渡直接考修士、研究生预科考修士、SGU(英文项目)。

1，语言学校过渡直接考修士：是经由日本法务省公认的主要用来接受外国留学生的日本语教育机构，比较适合本科生(日语零基础或者没有N2以上)的同学。其特点为可以有充足的时间来提高自己的日语能力，并且学校里有很多留学生可以方便沟通从而获得的留学资讯。但同时这也是不好的一点，学校留学生多难免鱼龙混杂需要自己多留个心眼，要时刻拉高警报，自己是去留学的，不要被不上进的人误导。

2，研究生预科考修士：研究生申请指的在国内申请修士的前期课程，适用于有N2以上的本科生或有一定日语基础的本科生。需要准备语言成绩，初期材料(包括个人简历、毕业及学位取得证明(或者毕业及学位预定取得证明)、成绩单、推荐信、照片、印章等)。之后还需要联系教授，日本大部分院校招收研究生时采取“导师内诺制”，教授具有绝对的话语权，教授只要同意接收学生，学校教务科一般都会给学生下录取通知书。跟教授联系的时间，一般是出愿开始半年前，这一阶段教授对于自己要几个学生比较有数，最晚也要在出愿截止前1-2周。得到教授内诺后，接下来需要准备是为了拿到学校入学许可书及合格通知书准备的工作，称为出愿，要想出愿，需要一个很关键的东西，叫做“募集要项”。募集要项上面会明确写明出愿时间、出愿地点及出愿提交材料等。出愿结束后，学校会安排统一的时间来开“教授会”，教授会通过后，学校一般都会发行正式的“入学许可书”或“合格通知书”。

3，日本SGU英语项目：Super Global University(超级国际化大学)，是日本文部科学省在20xx年推出的Global30(G30)计划的后续升级版。旨在通过全英文项目，教学、研讨、论文全过程英文完成为目标，吸引海外留学生，增加学生国家化比例，提高学校排名。其特点是需要申请人英语水平高(托福考到90以上，雅思考到6.0以上)部分学校要求GRE/GMAT成绩;还有成绩单、推荐信、毕业证等基本材料;并且需要申请人是本科毕业生(有毕业证及学位证，自考学历不可以)，申请时间通常情况下需要提前一年左右。但可选择的学校和专业有限，毕业后就业会成为一个大难题，如果这是想身临其境的感受一下日本文化就还好，否则显然就失去了赴日留学极大的意义。

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning field in China, so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management in England.

The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. As a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. My mother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simple calculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I, also, would someday be able to enter the realm of business.

With the time of growing up, I preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered. Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.

As a high school student in China, I had to concentrate on the College Entrance Examination (CEE), even so, books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June, , I was so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I eolled in the department of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms, I realized that I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At that moment, I lost my direction and objectives.

My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some books about management by Peter F.Drucker. I began to notice something interesting: Why some companies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell more than others? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?

With the questions in my mind, I started to read many relevant books. I was lucky to read the book “Jack: Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch, in Which John A. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. When I was a junior, I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. I should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. From this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I was doing. By December, , I had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge, I strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.

Fortunately, as a senior, I began by conducting an internship in the Architecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months, I worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. Could I put myself in the life-threatening working environment? Could I sacrifice my life for the benefits of others? Some people may laugh at my crazy question. To me, that is a serious question I have come a long way to find my answer. “I am not sure whether it is worth to answer”; “What is the true meaning of that question?”

When I was a young child, I watched a soap opera that was about court. I was deeply impressed by the judge’s calmness and the lawyer’s eloquence and resource that were showed in this opera. From then on, I hoped to study law some day. Fortunately, I performed well in entrance examination and got enrolled into xx University. Then I chose law as my major without hesitation. At university, I studied hard and got GPA 3.4. What’s more, I broadly read all kinds of books, including philosophy, history etc. My teachers’ instruction strengthened my understanding of law and makes me understand the significance of law to a country. As a representative of the requested applicant, I took part in the evidence collection in the early arbitration stage and clearly explained why the 5% balance of goods was not paid on time. After knowing the whole case, I visited my teacher, an Arbitration Law professor, and listened to her opinions. Realizing the counterpart didn’t completely implement their contract duty, I gave reasons as follows: First, the counterpart company didn’t mention bearing issue, which caused that the delivered machines couldn’t be put into the plant because of the disqualification of workshop. Thus overhaul was necessary, which delayed production and resulted loss. Based on these reasons, the counterpart didn’t completely carry out its duty, so our party did not pay the balance on time. During this time, I found out the evidence and pictures that attested counterpart did not give reasonable suggestion and service, and made a statement in the court. Finally, the arbitration turned out that counterpart compensated our loss, in which the arbiters invoked the reasons that I stated. They had a panel made up of 3 lawyers and 5 company representatives as agents while we just had 3 persons—two lawyers and me. Under such condition, I was able to cooperate with them and clearly stated my opinions without any nervousness, which got their respect. This matter greatly inspired my enthusiasm on study.

In addition, I took part in the contact draft in several companies. In the process, when I met a lot of problems, I often turned to my teachers for help, which made good impression on them. As I cherished each practice, I studied my specialty and English hard. With effective study method and diligence, I did well both in English and law, which helped me a lot to get scholarship every year. On the other hand, my practice inspired me to study. In practice, I exercised my legal knowledge. I also realize the big gap between theory and its application—sometimes I have master the rules but I didn’t know how to use it in actual case. My practice experiences have not only strengthened what I learned but have supplied new knowledge for me, which is good for my future study and career.

In my study and practice, I admired outstanding lawyers’ eloquence and jumping thinking more and more. However, in China, most of lawyers come from theory study and those who can perform well in practice are insufficient. Moreover, after the China’s entrance to WTO, there are a lot of problems with Chinese law. I think, my internship experience is not enough. In practice, I could combine substantive law with procedural law to analyze case, but I still feel my theoretical foundation is not solid enough. What’s more, comparably speaking, the chances that I have to initiatively study and practice are not a lot. I am interested in the field of study of Organizational Behavior. In the past， I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and the corporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that there is a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of their organizations， depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs)， large multinational firms， or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. One simple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independently without direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations， acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towards the supervisor， who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience and research， such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with the employees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.

Currently, I am a junior student in International College of Hubei Normal University majoring in Accounting. Thus, I have obtained great knowledge about business for the past three years.
