Describe a place where people go to listen to music

You should say

where this place is

what kind of music is performed there

what kind of people go there

and explain why people like to listen to music there.

Well, first of all, I have to say that I don't particularly go to some places to listen to music, so I racked my brains to think of a place to talk about. Then, a very special place came to mind - the McDonald's near my home haha. I just decided to talk about this place.

This McDonald's is within spitting distance of my home, only three or four hundred meters away. It's where I often go to grab some breakfast coz I'm usually short on time in the morning before going to work. Oh, of course, it's also where I listen to some music, since this is what the topic asks about hahaha.

As for what kind of music is performed there … Um, I guess it's usually R&B and Hip-Hop. Those are the genres. You know, I've noticed that the music that is often played in the McDonald's near my home is always Wilber Pan's music. He's an R&B and Hip-Hop singer and is a household name in China. I've been a huge fan of his since I was 13, when I bought an album of his named My Microphone. The fact that I really like Wilber and his music is always played in this McDonald's is probably part of the reason why I often go there.

I'm not sure if I'm the only person that goes to this McDonald's partly for its music, but I believe most other people who go there just go for the food, fast food of course, perhaps because they're in a rush and don't have much time to cook or go to other restaurants where they have to wait.

Anyway, why people like to listen to music there … um, like I said, I guess it's only me that likes to listen to music there, and my reason is very obvious. They play Wilber's songs and he's my all-time favorite.

rack my brains 绞尽脑汁

How does it look like?

And explain how do you feel about this place?

Well, I would like to start by saying that I dwell in a beautiful city _X and there are various places which are crowd-puller. Here, I would like to talk about a place where individuals go to listen to music.

It is a restaurant named “vivaan” which is housed in heart of the city. I visit this place frequently with my near and dear ones. Honestly speaking, this place is really famous for its food and music. They play different genres such as unplugged, acoustic especially they soft and soothing music. They invite various artists and music bands on weekends for live music. The most interesting thing is that local community people are also given chances to sing in front of others in order to demonstrate their talent. The restaurant is designed as per modern architecture and is very eye-catching. At night, it becomes a happening place because a lot people visit it for listening to music as well as for enjoying the delicious cuisines.

I feel this place is awesome because of different reasons. first of all, as it is located in the center of the city, so it’s convenient for every person to commute there hassle-free. Apart from that, the sitting arrangement is in apple pie order which can accommodate numbers of individuals. At night, the restaurant shines like a pearl because of the decoration and the lightening.

All in all, it is an idyllic place and honestly, a flying visit to this place truly rejuvenates me.

范文

Well, the place I am going to talk about where people usually go to listen to music is not a theatre or a music hall but a stadium. I think you must be very familiar with the name of this stadium, that is Bird’s Nest which is located in Beijing.

I think most people get to know the name because of the Beijing Olympics Games, but after the Olympic games, it is used as a multifunctional stadium where concerts or competitions are held. Most of the music performed there is pop music. Jackie Chan was the first artist to hold a pop music concert there. After that, many other pop music stars like Leehom Wang, Wang Feng, and the band Mayday all held concerts there. Most of the audiences that go here are young people or middle-aged people. They are loyal fans of these pop stars. Many people even come all the way from other places to attend their concerts.

Speaking of the reasons why people go there, well, in the beginning it appeals to people with the honor that it is the place where World Olympic Games was held. But later, the symbolic function is gradually replaced by its practical function. It is really a precious opportunity to see these pop stars. Especially to many people, those stars’ songs accompanied them through many hard days, so there are emotional reasons behind it. I have also attended a concert of Wang Feng in the Bird’s Nest. I think this is a beautiful place. Its appearance really assembles a bird’s nest, hence the name. The structure is complicated and delicate. Sitting in this stadium and listening to my favorite singer singing is something really special. The bigger size of the Bird’s Nest compared with other stadiums also allows more people to cheer for their idols. The concert held in Bird’s Nest is more like a party for fans.

Describe someone who you think is a good parent. 这个话题卡的第三个展开点是why you think he/she is good?

Describe someone who is knowledgeable. 这个话题卡的第二个展开点是what kind of person he/she is.

考生要准备的关键词就是know everything, share以及good example.

My father is an engineer who knows everything. He tells me so many interesting things that are very helpful in my study. I think he is a very good example because I also want to be like him one day.

My father as an engineer is the encyclopedia in my family. As a parent he’s always willing to share so many absorbing things related or not related to my study, which also set a good example for me to follow him or to be like him.

You should say

Where it was

When you went there

What you did there

And explain why you went there / how you felt about the crowded place.

ok, well the first place that came to mind when I saw this topic was the Beijing Metro, because I remember it being unbelievably crowded, so that’s what I’m gonna talk to you about.

And as for when I went there, well it was actually pretty recently, I suppose probably only about two or three weeks ago, so it’s still pretty fresh in my memory.

And regarding what I was doing there, well basically, I was on my way to see a friend who lives in Beijing, and she had told me that by far the best way to get around the city was using the subway, simply because the roads were so congested. So I took her advice, but it was a huge shock when I actually got into the subway station and saw just how many people there were. I mean, I knew that there would be a lot of people, but I never expected to see that many!

Although looking back on it now, I suppose what made it worse was the fact that I was travelling during rush hour, so it was a lot more crowded than I’m sure it would have been during off-peak times. And when I saw how packed the train was when it was pulling into the station, I remember thinking there was no way I was going to be able to get on. But I was in a bit of a hurry, coz I was actually already running late, so I had no choice really but to join the huge queue of people waiting. Anyway, I did somehow manage to make it onto the train, but I was pressed up against people on all sides, so it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least! I mean, it was absolutely heaving, and I literally couldn’t move at all!

Thankfully though, I didn’t have too far to travel, coz if I remember correctly, I was only on the train for about 4 stops. And when I finally got off, I remember feeling incredibly relieved, and also very grateful that I didn’t have to go through the same experience every day.

So yeah, I guess that’s pretty much all there is to say!

雅思口语题库 part2 参考范文之:拥挤的地方(a time you went to a place crowded with people)

Describe a time you went to a place crowded with people.

You should say

Where it was

When you went there

What you did there

And explain why you went there / how you felt about the crowded place

My recent visit to the San Diego zoo provided me with an interesting experience. It was a noisy place that I have not been to before. The surrounding places inside the zoo were filled with noise both from the animals and people who came to visit them. Thank you for the nice cue card and hope the description will not make you feel bored as I was during my visit.

I did not have the experience to visit a zoo. So, I went to visit the San Diego zoo with some of my college friends. The experience was outstanding. But the noise around me was intolerable. I did not have the idea that the animals could make so noise. In fact, I could not enjoy the visit there only for it being a noisy place.

I went to the zoo to see animals that I have watched only on books and movies. Actually, my parents did not allow me to move outside of the home without any important reasons. And visiting in places and meeting with friends was wasting time – they believed. But when I grew up and started studying college, they became more friendly to me and allowed all the things that they did not permit before. So, the real-life knowledge for me is limited, and I started to gain some knowledge. As part of earning knowledge, I went to the San Diego Zoo and came to know about various types of animals.

The zoo was noisy for some certain reasons. First of all, this is the place where the wild animals live and they create noise. I think they try to communicate with each other and thus create the sounds. Hence, such noises are natural from the zoo animals. Besides, when the visitors come to the zoo, they also create noises. They shout and talk, and laugh seeing the animals before them. In fact, this is the natural expression of wonder for the visitors. But since there are no restrictions about sound, they create noise after their sweet wills. So, all the sounds inside the zoo create a noisy environment.

Initially, it was a nice experience to me to be at the zoo. But after passing some moments inside there, I felt uncomfortable. I could not enjoy the trip to the zoo for the noise. It appeared that the visitors are making more noise than the animals inside. There should be a limit about noise which should be followed strictly. The animals will make noise which is natural but the noise from the visitors is completely undesired. Though I could not bear with the knowledge, I made the trip complete inside the zoo as it was my very first visit. I think the authority should take steps to prevent such a noisy situation in this zoo.

Crowded places

1. How do you feel when you are in crowded places?

Actually, there will be two kinds of feelings in my heart. Specifically, if I am in a place full of people. The first is excitement because when people are gathering, there must be something fascinating happened. Another is the feeling of nervous since crowed places are sometimes hazardous so I have got to be cautious.

2. When was the last time you were in a crowded place?

Well, I went to a concert where there were thousands of people last weekend . Although the concert was quite thrilling, when it was over and all the people were passing that tiny gate to get out, I felt a bit anxious because I was so afraid of falling down and being hurt by so many people. 3.What places do you think are often crowded?

I suppose in China, most of the public places are packed with people especially some entertaining sites like cinemas, shopping malls and sports stadiums. Generally, I reckon that some well-known tourist spots are often full of visitors like the Colosseum in Rome and the Fuji mountain in Japan. Their fame attracts millions of travelers to take a look.

When did you start to use social networking sites?

Let me see. Um, it was probably six or seven years ago, when I was in high school. Back then, we had a popular networking site among students, called Renren, which was sort of like the Chinese equivalent of Facebook. However, it wasn’t managed well, so I started to use wechat a couple of years ago. It's a real game-changer. Everyone has shifted to Wechat and its friends circle, I mean, everyone, literally.

还有要强调的内容,比如it's a real game-changer; I mean, everyone, literally 等,我们的语速同样要放慢,因为这是我们情绪和感受的体现。

I went to Starbucks/ and ordered an Americano,/which is my Dad's favorite,/ as well as mine.

An article you read online or from magazines about healthy living,或者An activity you do to keep fit的时候,自己又变成了健身狂人~ 这种难道不是前后矛盾么?

a. 职位/头衔 - eg: Dr(Doctor), Pro(Professor), CD(Chief Director)。

b. 称谓 - eg: Mr., Miss., Mrs., Ms.。

eg: Romeo and Juliet。

专有名词的缩写,首字母要大写 - eg: WTO(World Trade Organization) / WHO(World Health Organization) / UN(United Nation)

Now we are standing here at…

地方走,一般用go on/along…till you meet

表示向东,南,西,北方向走,一般用go east/south/west/north

表示左转,右转用turn left/right

表示上行(向北),下行(向南)go up/down; go back

后面,前面,旁边,紧邻用be located behind/in front of/beside/next to

表示很近用be near to…/be close to

表示在某人的左手边或右手边on sb’s left/right hand/side

表示在拐角处用be in corner of

表示在第一个/第二个/第三个路口处at the first/second/third crossing intersection/crossroad

表示入口/出口entrance/exit

表示后门/侧门/前门用rear/side/front entrance

电梯lift/elevator

如《剑四》中的一道题, “ 评价五个实验的效果” : Problems A too messy B too boring C too difficult D too much equipment E too long F too easy G too noisy H tpp dangerous 。 Messy相当于untidy, not clean ; boring可能转化为not interesting; difficult易换成not easy, hard, beyond one’s power等等;too much equipment, 相当于requires a lot of equipment or facilities; too long 转化成take a long time 或具体一段时间,a week , 10 days 等;too noisy 相当于a lot of noise , disturb等; too dangerous通常替换为risky, may hurt someone, danger等。

A postgraduate department, B.library, C . other section 。

I enjoy every minute of it,或者说It suits me。

I'm deeply/strongly concerned about _______这个句型来谈某个问题,表示出你对此的担忧。

Describe a place you visited has been affected by pollution

You should say:

? What the place is

? What type of pollution it is/ are

? Cause and effect of pollution

and explain how can this pollution be controlled.

Last year I went to visit (...say an area name in your city/country...)with two of my friends and thought we would enjoy our trip. We heard from a teacher that this was a beautiful place to visit and after that, we planned to go there. To our surprise, this place was severely affected by the pollution and instead of enjoying our trip, we cut it short and returned home immediately.

It was early summer last year and visiting a place near a river which is surrounded by natural beauty and recommended by one of our favourite teachers was an excellent idea, at least at that time. I am sure the teacher who suggested this place had no idea about the severity of the pollution there and how things have become worse.

The water pollution was quite severe there and the black and greasy elements that were floating on the water created a shocking scene. Uncontrolled waste management, toxic elements from factories and industries, motorised vehicles running on the water and the lack of proper maintenance of the riverside are the main reasons the water has got polluted. More shockingly, the air pollution was also noticeable. I saw many industries and factories that were exhausting black fumes and that has made the air polluted more than any other part I know about.

Uncontrolled urbanisation, the establishment of new factories & industries without proper planning, lack of strict policy and corruption in government offices are so far the main reasons for increasing pollution in our country. I wish this will stop and we will be conscious enough not to destroy our own inhabitants.

Topic:Describe a place (city/village) you have been to that was polluted.

You should say:

When and where you went

Why you went there

What the pollution was like (or what kind of pollution it was)

And explain how you felt about this pollution

I went to Amritsar in last month with my friends.

We went there to pay our obeisance in Shri Harmandir Sahib, commonly known as Golden Temple. This is the famous shrine of Sikhism.

Though this city is called the Holy city but the garbage and pollution has defaced this place.

We went there by train and from railway station we hired an auto rickshaw to reach at our destination.

The auto rickshaw driver took the shortest path to reach quickly. For this he made us go through narrow lanes of the city and residential area.

To our surprise, we found heaps of rubbish lying here and there and the water drains were choked with polythene bags.

We asked the driver if there is any strike of municipal workers as the city streets and roads are not cleaned up but he replied that this is the routine affair.

The city which is famous around the world and is a place of pilgrimage was in a shabby condition.

Besides domestic garbage, factory fumes were also adding in to the existing pollution.

It seemed like evening during noon time as the smoke has engulfed the entire city .We felt trouble in breathing also.

We were surprised at the callous approach of the local administration. There must be strong measures to curb the menace of pollution.

Some days after our visit to Amritsar, I read an article in newspaper about most polluted cities of India and I was shocked to read that Amritsar was rated as one of the most polluted cities of the country.

I wish that this stigma of “polluted city” be removed from the name of Amritsar and people call it Holy city.

I’d like to talk about the capital city of China, Beijing, which is famous for its places of interest like the Great wall, and also some modern tourist attractions. But these years, I believe it has become well known for its heavy air pollution. I don’t remember since when high levels of air pollution have become commonplace in Beijing, especially during winter months when temperatures drop and more coal is burned when heating systems are switched on. All I can hear from the news every now and then is Beijing is hit by hazardous smog again and the municipal government issues yellow smog alerts all the time, and the number of patients who suffer from respiratory disease is on the rise, blah blah…

I guess that’s why I don’t have too much affection for this city. But a few months ago, my best friend was getting married in Beijing and I was asked to be her bridesmaid. So I had to fly there to attend her wedding.

After I landed at the airport, I just had this weird feeling in my throat and I started to cough. I noticed that most people around me were wearing masks, I just regret why I didn’t get one before I went there.

1. Would you like to live in a nice flat withoutair-conditioning?

Yes, of course. Air-conditioning can surely bring uscomfortable temperature but I'd rather open thewindows and let fresh air in, which can controlbacteria in the room to the lowest level. Researchshows that staying in a room with air-conditioningfor a long time will do harm to people's health. Air-conditioning syndrome has now become a new disease disturbing modern people.

2. Does traffic cause pollution? How should we solve the pollution?

China's automobile industry is currently at the technological levels of the 1960s, characterizedby high energy consumption. An inefficient replacement cycle and the long period of use ofautomobiles have caused pollution at very high levels. So we should effectively enforceemission standards, invest more funds to update testing facilities and control the numbers ofprivate cars.

3. What does your country do to solve pollution?

China has already signed and ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on ClimateChange (UNFCCC) and the amended Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances. China isnow in the process of formulating national action programmes for implementing thisinternational convention and protocol. China has promulgated the law of the People's Republicof China for the Prevention of Atmospheric Pollution.

4. What do you think is the best way to solve pollution?

Developing strategies and measures for protecting the atmosphere involves thelegislative, planning, scientific research and educational sectors. It requires concertedcooperation between sectors. Pollution is not only a serious problem facing a certain countrybut also a serious problem facing human beings as a whole.

Ok, I'd like to tell you about the temple of the Six Banyan Trees. It'slocated in the city center of Guangzhou and it is not far away fromZhongshan 6 Road, near the People's Hospital. It's a good place togo to and climb to see the FlowerPagoda, which has eight sides to it. You can also go there to pray if you are a Buddhist. It is an active temple and is also the head of the Guangzhou Buddhist Association. You canalso do a bit of shopping there if you like.Besides the souvenirs you can buy there, it also has a very lively fruit and meat market nearby, so if you just want to shop instead you can.

The main feature of this place is the pagoda because it's the tallest in the city. From the outside it looks like it has only nine stories, but actually it has 17 inside. It's quite old, and was built some time in the 10th century. The temple itself is even older than that-I think it goes back to some time during the Tang Dynasty, around 500 AD or something like that. It's called the six Banyan Trees because there used to be six trees there, and Su Dongpu, one of china's best-known poets in the Song Dynasty, celebrated them in a poem. You can also see one of the most beautiful golden statutes of Guan yin, who's a Buddhist Goddess of Compassion I would rec ommend this place because it represents real history in Guangzhou. A lot of people com plain that Guangzhou is too con cerned about money and business.and lacks culture, but I think thereare several places that still remindpeople of its rich culture, and this is one of them.

Busted! These Are the 14 Biggest Myths About Black Friday

Every year, savvy shoppers find deep discounts online and in stores on Black Friday. Whether they're looking for the newest, most advanced tech device or the perfect outfit for New Year's Eve, buyers know retailers will offer some of their best deals during this time.

But are all the deals great? Do you have to shop online to find them? And do Black Friday sales even have to begin on Black Friday? We've addressed these questions, and quite a few more, in our list of the biggest myths about Black Friday. Brush up onsome shopping knowledge now, so you're well prepared for the upcoming deal season!

Contrary to popular myth, women are not worse drivers than men. 查下字典就知道,原来brush up on sth & brush sth up 的意思是to quickly improve a skill, especially when you have not used it for a time。比如I must brush up on my Spanish before I go to Seville.

2. You're Missing Out if You Only Shop Online

Companies advertise doorbusters in order to attract customers to their brick-and-mortarstores. But in recent years, as competition has escalated among rival retailers, thoseeye-catching deals have steadily moved online as well.

The reason is simple. Traditional retailers like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy know that online retailers like Amazon will match their best prices on in-store deals. Thus it only makes sense to offer the same deals online, to remain competitive. The goal is to beat Amazon, but the real winners are deal-hunters.

4. All Black Friday Deals Are Amazing

This is shopping 101. Remember, retailers are in business to make a buck, and they can't do that if they lose money — or even make too small a profit — on every deal.

Some deals are great, but others are filler. The great ones are there to lure you into buying more stuff, ideally at a healthy markup. So do your research and uncover the truth about those “rock bottom” prices before you buy.

6. Apple's Black Friday Sale is a Must-Shop Event for Apple Fans

Apple Stores across the country will be packed on Black Friday, but they won't be offering great deals. Last year, the tech giant offered gift cards with its full-price devices, which was pretty disappointing for shoppers hoping for a discount. If you want a real deal, you'd be better off checking out what third-party retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and MacMall can do.

7. You Have to Stay Glued to Your Computer All Day to Get Deals

Sure, Black Friday can be stressful. With deals popping up throughout the day, you might feel like you have to keep your eyes on the computer monitor.

But that's simply not the case. DealNews has you covered. Before you spend 24 hours staring at a pixelated screen, set up an alert with us to receive notifications when your favorite deals are posted.

10. Luxury Goods Don't Go on Sale for Black Friday

It's true that Black Friday emphasizes lower-end electronics, however, in recent years, several luxury retailers have begun offering sales and promotions through their outlets. Stores like Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Barney's Warehouse, and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH are a few outlets you can expect to participate in Black Friday sales. Plus, even Apple products go on sale now!

12. Doorbusters Are Always Crappy Quality

Bargain bin devices have a reputation for being bottom-of-the-barrel items that nobody wants, and you have to be careful for retailers trying to pass off questionable devices as “special edition.” But over the past few years, the doorbuster selections have been showing more flair than usual to entice customers. For example, we've seen rock-bottom prices on laptops with better-than-average specs, as well as eye-popping TV deals from brands you've actually heard of before.

Do you like watch films

拿这个题目举个例子:1、喜不喜欢看电影可以有三种问法:a.What kind of films do you like to watch? (Why?) b.Is there any kind of film that you don't like to watch? (Why?)c.Do you like to watch films?

Hello everyone,I’m Evy,your friend, today i am going to share three questions and sample answers about “film”,and I hope they are useful when you are taking the oral test of IELTS.

Question1:What kind of films do you like to watch? (Why?)

Answer1:I like all types of horrors from Hollywood to Bollywood! The more blood and gutsthe better! My favorite horror movie is “Saw ” and every time I watch it I feel kind of weird andspooked afterwards, but I'll watch it again anyway.

Question2:Is there any kind of film that you don't like to watch? (Why?)

Answer2:Horror films creep me out. I watched “The Shining” when I was a little kid and itscared the hell out of me and I have not been able to watch horror since. I can do thrillers, just not horror.

Question3:Do you like to watch films?

Answer3:Yes.Probably for the same reason I like to read or watch TV: to experience others’ lives, adventures and emotions vicariously without having to experience those things in reality, such as something painful like a tragedy or a horror, or because it's not plausible in your own life, like fantasy/adventure movies.

Ok that's all,So much for today, hope to see you next time, bye!
